SMA Negeri 10 Palembang was formerly known as SMPPN 26 (Sekolah Menengah Persiapan Pembangunan Negeri 26 Palembang) and founded on December 18th, 1973. Then, based on the decree of minister of national education, the school changed its name as SMA Negeri 10 Palembang on August 09th, 1985. This SMA has an “A” grade accreditation.

This SMA has many supporting facilities for educational process with 30 local classrooms, a computer room with internet facility, a physics laboratory, a chemistry laboratory, a biology laboratory, a language laboratory, a completed-with any reference library room, basket and volley fields, and a function hall.

Besides that, this school has a lot of various extracurricular activities, such as PASKIBRA, PMR, Dance Art, Cheerleaders, Basket Ball, etc.

Regional Library of South Sumatra Province

Regional Library of South Sumatra Province is now experiencing a pretty good development marked by the intensification year after year as new books are increasing in number and employees are developing in their friendly service.

In terms of information technology, Regional Library has been using computerized systems to serve the “borrow-and-return books” activities with barcode system. So each member, especially the new ones, now equipped with an online ATM-like card with its membership ID and password. The online card users only need to grind the card to the existing tools to enter the library, do borrowing transactions and / or returning books. South Sumatra Regional Library facilities include a “Free Hotspot Area with no limit, no register and no cash” that become one of the main reasons for many visitors to come to the Library.

South Sumatra Regional Library Service schedule are open from Monday to Friday at 08.00 – 15.30 WIB, on Saturday, at 08.30 – 15.00 WIB, and having break time on Friday at 11:00 to 13:30 pm.

Members can borrow 3 books maximum in a week and can be extended as much as 3 times. A late return will be subject to a fine of Rp 200, – per book / day. Recently, this Library owned about 168 thousand titles with 8,000 members consisting of 4,000 ordinary card users and 4,000 online cards users.

Palembang Hajj Dormitory

Palembang Hajj Dormitory is a dormitory pilgrimage last checkpoint for
pilgrims before leaving for the airport SMB II Palembang. Every year,
pilgrims from Southern Sumatera thronged this place during the
pilgrimage season. Southern Sumatra region which is geographically
comprised by many villages, make Asrama Haji serves as a temporary
dormitory accommodations for pilgrims from those regions.

Palembang Hajj Dormitory buildings are standing stately with 40 rooms
to accommodate the pilgrims from South Sumatra. It also serves as a
Islamic Center of activities, such as seminars, workshops and so
forth.

Kamboja Stadium

Kamboja Stadium is a football club’s headquarters of PS Palembang. Serves as a training center and home base of the club competing in the primary division of Indonesia league with funding from Palembang government.

As one of the oldest stadium in Palembang, many Kamboja Stadium’s facilities that are broken and need renovation. The stadium is often used for concert venue of famous Indonesia musicians.

Primagama

Primagama was established in early 1982 by Purdi E. Chandra and his friend. At first, its purpose was to guide the high school students to pass their University entrance test and later becoming students guidance for their study on school with best performance.

Start with 64 students in the year 1981/1982, ten years later had becoming 16.500 students and on 2007/2008 had becoming 350.000.

For around four years, 1993-1997, Primagama’s branch have increased to 132 branches, around 5-6 branches per year. In the year 2001/2002, Primagama have increased their branches around 56, so until July, 2002, Primagama have 168 branches on 83 cities in Indonesia.

Palembang Archaeological Center

Palembang Archaeological Center is the implementing agency technical units (Unit Pelaksana Teknis, UPT) in the field of culture-based archaeological research in Palembang. It was founded in 1993 under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

Palembang Archaeological Center has conducts research task on archaeological objects and sites in their working area which includes the Province of South Sumatra, Bangka-Belitung, Jambi and Bengkulu.

Palembang Archaeological Center seeks to enhance its research results as part of nation building with the cultural sustainability and safe environment. SMA negeri 17 (State Senior High School 17) Palembang, which is accredited A, is one of the best school in Palembang. This school was established in 1997 and become the first international standard school (RSBI, Rintisan Sekolah Bertaraf Internasional) in South Sumatera with ISO 9001:2000 certification. The curriculum used by this high school is a national one plus adoption and adaptation from other country’s curriculum. Using Semester Credit (SKS, Satuan Kredit Semester) system make the students here able to finish their study in 2 years only.

University of Sriwijaya

Establised in 1960, States University in South Sumatera, named Sriwijaya University or famous as UNSRI, has 10 faculties and 2 campuses. One is located at Bukit Besar in Palembang, for diploma, professional program (extension), magisterial (S2), and doctoral (S3) with 32,5 ha area and another campus for undergraduate (S1) program is located on 712 ha area of Indralaya, Ogan Ilir.

In Inderalaya Campus there are Administration Head Office (so-called “KPA”, Kantor Pusat Administrasi), Main Library, Language Institute, Research Center , Community Service Agencies, Computer Center, Students’ Activities Center, Community Health Center , Medical Clinic, and Fire Station of Sriwijaya University. This campus also has a Farm for students’ experiment as large as 50 ha located in Gelumbang (about 62 kilometers south from Palembang).

Unsri also has a Medical Faculty Campus located in Mohammad Hoesin State Hospital and Postgraduate Campus (for magisterial and doctoral) on jl. Padang Selasa, Bukit Besar. The rector who serves at Unsri now is Prof. Dr. Badia Perizade, M.B.A.
